Shell-model Monte Carlo studies of fp-shell nuclei.
We study the gross properties of even-even and N = Z nuclei with A = 48 64 using shell-model Monte Carlo methods. Our calculations account for all 0 h! con gurations in the fp-shell and employ the modi ed Kuo-Brown interaction KB3. We nd good agreement with data for masses and total B(E2) strengths, the latter employing e ective charges ep = 1:35e and en = 0:35e. The calculated total Gamow-Tell...

متن کاملResults from Shell Model Monte Carlo Studies
We review results obtained using Shell Model Monte Carlo (SMMC) techniques. These methods reduce the imaginary-time many-body evolution operator to a coherent superposition of onebody evolutions in fluctuating one-body fields; the resultant path integral is evaluated stochastically. After a brief review of the methods, we discuss a variety of nuclear physics applications. These include studies ...
متن کاملShell model Monte Carlo investigation of rare earth nuclei
We utilize the shell model Monte Carlo method to study the structure of rare earth nuclei. This work demonstrates the first systematic full oscillator shell with intruder calculations in such heavy nuclei. Exact solutions of a pairing plus quadrupole Hamiltonian are compared with the static path approximation in several dysprosium isotopes from A5152 to 162, including the odd mass A5153. Some c...
متن کامل1 Shell Model the Monte Carlo Way
The fomalism for the auxiliary-field Monte Carlo approach to the nuclear shell model is presented. The method is based on a linearization Df the twobody part of the Hamiltonian in an imaginary-time propagator using the Hubbard-Stratonovich transformation. The foundation of the method, as applied to the nuclear many-body problem, is discussed. Topics presented in detail include: (1) the density-...
